“When you feel connected to what you do and work for an organization like CIBC that celebrates diversity, it makes you feel like you belong. Having diverse thoughts, opinions and experiences will only result in better client experiences.”
Colleen Leung

“Coming here, my biggest challenge was proving myself and meeting Canadian standards — from writing cover letters and participating in interviews to building my network. But what I really needed was access to an opportunity to demonstrate my skills and abilities.”
ASBED SGHMAN

“When you look at the history of progress or innovation, the vast majority of high-impact social and technological advancements have been about removing obstacles or barriers for wider groups. It’s all about lifting people up rather than keeping them down, increasing potential rather than limiting it.”

Women in Finance Charter
In 2016, CIBC became a signatory of the UK Women in Finance Charter — the first Canadian-headquartered bank to make the pledge. At the end of our 2020 fiscal year, women comprised 33% of our global board roles and 40% of our board. CIBC will achieve, at a minimum, between 35% and 40% women in board-approved executive roles by 2022.
